UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES this was a horrible solution with devastating consequences, but we shouldn't be fooling ourselves into thinking this got passed to be soft on crime or they love the criminals, well maybe some do, to win elections. This is happening all across the country. We have lost the ability to punish people. If you tell a homeless person, if they break the law, they will go to jail and get free housing free food and free medical and dental, showers and recreation, which sounds like a dream resort to them. And yet, this scenario is playing out across the country at an enormous cost. The US spends between 80-90 billion per year every year. This law and many others got passed to try and stem the flow of growing amount of people going into the system that taxpayers have to pay for. Someone steals a $100.00 tool or or $300.00 in clothing and the taxpayers spends a quarter of a million dollars to show that homelessness persons who's boss! The truth is we can afford to punish people because the cost to do so is for more than the crime. Steal a candy bar, taxpayer cost 1/4 of a million, steal a beer .1/4 of a million, a ham from Walmart 1/4 of a million. All the criminals know they will be out in no time if they get any time at all. where it all goes off the rails is when the cost of living skyrockets, so does crime, and more so the cost to address crime also skyrockets with added police, courts, and jails. Creating a perfect storm for a societal collapse. It is weird, though, that the people we hire to come up with and enact solutions to fix everything, have no expertise in anything other than lying as far as I can tell. These politicians would have a better chance of building a space shuttle from scratch than fixing this country. At any rate, there are examples of countries around the world that are doing things a far better job than we are doing, and the idea is not even revolutionary. There are 4 main tenents of civilization and of society and they are food, shelter, health and education, and if any of these are not secured or missing, the society will not grow and or possibly collapse and all of these are in decline in America, speeding up this country's downfall and collapse. If you see more Americans living outside like animals, it's because we are in decline and becoming less civilized as a nation. We need to immediately change course to stop the disastrous end from continuing. There is an odd fact that is unique only to America and that is the US is the only developed country that doesn't provide health care for its citizens. Just odd and lack of health is one of the tenets that could collapse a society, just odd America?
